We have a GoNintendo relaunch date!
I know I've asked for a lot of patience over the last few months, but thankfully, it's about to pay off. Work behind the scenes has gotten us to a point where we can lock in a launch date for GoNintendo's revamp. Get ready, because it's much sooner than you think!
Mark your calendars for March 7th, 2022! I can 100% confirm that GoNintendo's relaunch will happen by that date, at its very latest. What do I mean by "at its very latest?" Well, it's entirely possible we could launch sooner than that! It all depends on the content being handled right now.
The Features writers have been cranking out content for a few weeks now. I've been working on edits, and then passing those back to the team. When they have the final edit, they can publish in preparation for the site revamp. This obviously takes some time on my part! I've been rolling through features the last few days, and have made a considerable dent. I don't see why I can't keep my current pace, so those features should all have their final edits by the end of this week. Then it's just a matter of the staff publishing and tweaking for the relaunch.
The News team is a little different. They haven't had much to do yet, outside of learning how the new editor works. Now I need to figure out the schedule for the blocks they'll be covering. That's not something that needs to be done before launch, though. I'm still very much part of the News team, so I can fill in any/all gaps until we figure out exactly who slots in where. I just want to get some of that done before we flip the switch and go live.
Functionality-wise, the new site is done! Everything works as it should (we think!), and we're in the spit-and-polish section. There's still work to be done on that end after launch, but the list of things we wanted/needed prior to a public launch have been taken care of.
So yeah...we're pretty much good to go! Again, expect us back in action by March 7th at the very latest. If we can see you sooner, I'll be sure to let you know!
P.S. - If you have an account on this version of GoNintendo, no worries. Your account will be carried over to the revamped site. See you soon!
